BtVS Drabble Prompt: First Meeting

I don't know why this one gave me fits and wouldn't work until now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If Darla didn’t meet him fever bright. Instead she coughed to death and was forgotten.
If Liam didn’t meet her laughing drunk. Instead he wed and regretted and drank to death.
If Drusilla didn’t meet him sweetly pious. Instead she kept visions locked behind lowered lids, prayed to death and was beloved.
If William didn’t meet her angrily embarrassed. Instead he loved his mother, wrote to death and was unremarked.
If they didn’t meet. If they didn’t rage. If they didn’t burn or fight or love and hate with all their passion and all their strength.
If they just lived…
Wow. You say so much with so few words. Gorgeous.
This comment touched me so much, I read it aloud to Derek. His response was less flattering than your comment "oh, they don't know you. At. All."
Poor Derek.
But thank you for reading and for your kind words.
Heh. Oh, boys. They don't have a clue sometimes.
But the fact that you're usually wordy, and yet you can pack a punch in 100 words here... That's amazing.
"prayed to death and was beloved." how very fitting for the pre-vamped Drusilla. Makes me wonder if William could have met her then (I know they are separated by time so it wasn't possible) if he wouldn't have loved her just the same? I can't help but think he would have been wonderful with someone fragile like her.
Thank you so much. As much as A2Zmom said it was better for the world for them not to have met, I think them not meeting would be a tragedy. They brought out the best in one another, even if it was the worst.
I'm not so sure that I'm wordy so much as won't-shut-uppy. :)
How did I miss your drabble last week? It's great! The last line, as usual, is a killer. :D
On other news, this is the last day to tell me your requests for [livejournal.com profile] cya_ficathon. Please check the available authors and tell me your choices in the same comment.
I'm very stealth with my drabbles. :)
I'm glad you liked it. (Also, I put in my CyA selections on the post - thanks for the reminder!)
How ordinary their lives would have been, how unremarked their deaths.
Very well done.
Lovely.
