Revelations Drabble

Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning.

But there were no quaint aphorisms for this.

The sky was purple, lit by violent green lightning. The roiling clouds were ominous enough, but the black shapes darting between terrified her.

There had been no prophecies. Just… cataclysm. The Slayers were given time to say their goodbyes, then moved as one to face Hell.

She raised the sword to ready position and the cross to her lips. She knew how this would end and it gave her hope. After all, Revelations was just another word for Apocalypse.

That's actually a fantastic idea, and kinda makes me wish I still wrote fanfic, considering I come from an ultra-Christian, fundamentalist upbringing. I keep the rules of the Buffyverse so separate from my own beliefs that I never even considered crossing them over. But a Christian Slayer (a Slayer who is a Christian, that is; not a Slayer of Christians) would be really interesting to explore.

I was watching Paranormal State last night while I wrote, and they were going to help a couple who were ultra-Christian. I think that's where I got the idea. It was pretty funny - the director gave the team a little speech on being considerate of the clients' beliefs and avoiding overt displays of their own religious views, (since they need the clients' co-operation to to their investigation). It included "so Heather, we shouldn't let them know you are pagan. No cauldrons or weird shit on this trip, okay?"

Cracked me up.

As for Slayer of Christians - that's more a Rome fanfic, I think. :)
