Nano Update

As feared, my word count is lacking. As expected, the story is sucking. (When your mother tells you the idea is hokey, there's just nothing left to say.) On the plus side, I'm at work today instead of home sick. I got 1700 words at work (don't tell my boss!) on Tuesday, so hopefully I can catch up.

You funny girl!!!

Send me what you got.

I'm not sending anyone anything until November is over. My inner editor is dangling over a vast chasm, not to be released until December 1st.

All I have to do is get 50000 words before November ends.

Then you can read it. And laugh.

You're a nut!

Have I mentioned that lately?

I like nuts. Especially cashews.

Look at that! Cashews are my favorite too!

Are you doing fanfic or original fic?

Who cares if it's a bad novel, just write, woman, write! Throw in a crazy evil sorcerer or something ;-)
God. I can't even do WriAShoStorWe!

I'm doing original. It's a paranormal romance - psychic falls in love with a dead guy. Meanwhile, the bad guy is using the psychic to find an arcane tool of ultimate control, so the dead guy needs to help her save herself from bad guy's evil clutches.

What's your tone? Comedy, romance, action, thriller?

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ummm, all of the above?

The original plan was to focus on the romance, but as I was outlining, I realized that it didn't have any dramatic tension - she dreams about guy, realizes he's real, realizes he's dead, falls in love anyway...

Boring.

So I added the villian, a la Amanda Quick, my favourite romance novelist. Now the focus has shifted to the mystery, with the romance as backdrop (love conquers all, etc.)

So I have a plan. It's just kind of weak and derivitive.
