Antsy

I can tell it's spring.

I have that antsy feeling. That feeling that my life is in a terrible rut. That feeling that I need to change what I'm doing, what I'm wearing, where I live, who I'm with.

It's the feeling that makes me want to run away from all of my responsibilities and take some chances, on my own.

Most people love spring. I hate it. I always feel out of control and unsatisfied in the spring. Summer brings lassitude back to my life; fall invigorates and inspires me; winter refreshes me. But spring makes me realize all the things I'm unhappy about.

Know that I will support you whatever you choose. Just as long as you don't become a carnie or something. That would be weird ;-)

I choose .... to be lazy. I felt totally unmotivated last night, so I skipped TKD, planning to work on the cross-stitch for Sandra's baby, but I couldn't even get my ass in gear to do that.

It's like I have so many ideas in my head that I can't settle on one, you know? I just outlined a new Firefly fic, but I need to focus on the baby gift, then I need to work on Learning Curve (the original fic), then I need to start getting organized for WriterCon. Plus I need to clean my office so I can start some plants where the cats won't eat them and... I just end up doing nothing.

It's awesome. In the way that isn't.

I usually get the feeling you're describing in January/February, where I hate my life and want to start everything over. So far I've done nothing drastic. ;) I'm too much of a coward.

Also, the too-much-on-one-plate demotivation scenario is one I am all too familiar with as well. Maybe you can make a priority list and/or a 'I can complete this in a short time' list and work on those first to get some kind of sense of accomplishment? If it works let me know 'cause so far that approach is just a theory to me.

Any way, good luck, and while you should probably use this restlessness to find & fix things you don't really like/want, don't throw *everything* away.

Also, feel free to completely disregard any/all advice I give. =)

The list making thing is something I like to do. The biggest problem with it is then I end up with slips of important paper all over the house.

It's so hard to put your finger on the thing you need to change, while keeping the good stuff, isn't it?

I know it's easier said than done, but you gotta do what's best for you, what gives you energy. 'Cuz you're a very cool person and you ought to prosper.

'Course, if you asked me, what's best for you might include playing some Settlers. Just a thought.

snerk. I was telling my parents about Settlers - they seem totally into the concept, so it's official - I need to get my own set to play with Mom and Dad.

Very therapeutic.
