I am dumb.

I was sick, sick, sick this weekend.

Not as sick as saratinia was last week, but still pretty freaking miserable.

And I made myself even more miserable.

I bought No Name Extra Strength Sinus Medication. When I buy No Name drugs, I usually just make sure that the medicinal ingredients and amounts are the same as the name brand version. It was the same stuff as Tylenol for Sinus, so I bought it.

I read how much to take and how often, but I didn't quite do all my research.

It contains Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride, which is a stimulant. The packaging actually says "Reduce dosage if nervousness or sleeplessness occurs." Wish I'd read that before last night. 40 minutes of sleep, woken by nightmares. I ended up on the bathroom floor (the only room in the house with locking doors) trying to calm down. When I finally cleared my head, I was totally jittery and paced for about an hour.

I got about 3 hours of sleep total last night.

No more non drowsy Extra Strength Sinus Medication after 4 pm for me.

Thankfully those things don't affect me. I am however, still coughing and wheezing through life.

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it came in handy today. After only three hours of sleep and a couple of these, no headache and I've gotten more done today than I have in weeks!

[identity profile] sandraregina.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that is one bad med reaction. Not the worst, obviously, but damn.
*cuddles* I'm sending you an e-cookie so you feel better.

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the cookie!

It was my own damn fault - I took it way too close to bedtime. Tonight I stick with Neo-citran. That knocks me out everytime.

( I was going to say "that knocks me out like a deaf girl on the train tracks, but I realized only my family would get that horrible mental image.)

[identity profile] whatawookie.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd have to say that is a descriptive enough image for me.

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently McLean's has been adding unusual obits to their features. One of them was this poor deaf girl, a former Miss Deaf America, who was walking home along the railway tracks texting a friend and was struck and killed.

According to the engineer, "we knew it was going to be horrible when we blew the horn and she didn't move."

Dad and Adam (okay, all of us) found that story kind of funny, in that horrific, why would they print that? kind of way. It got even funnier when I said, "We really should stop laughing. I mean, a few years from now, it'll be Dad dead in a freak accident and some other family laughing about what a moron he is!"

So horrific, yes, but still, good times!

[identity profile] whatawookie.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, if you can't laugh, then what can you do?

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn! That's bad. How are you doing today, all things considered?

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I seem to be okay during the day, but at night I'm still getting the hot and cold flashes like I'm slightly feverish.

I feel like a toddler: fine all day, sick all night.

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Gotta be something you can take to make yourself feel better.

[identity profile] whatawookie.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, the only real sure fire thing is to take lots of rest and lots of fluids.

Go to bed at 9pm!

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
How about going to bed as soon as she gets home from work?

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually considered that. But then I'd miss NCIS, and House and Gilmore Girls.

TV is way more important than my health, don't you know?

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't make me come over there missy.

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes Mom. I'll eat all my brussels sprouts and take my medicine like a good girl. :)

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't care about the sprouts, just get some rest.

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually did get to bed by 11 last night, and slept solidly, thanks to the miracles of Neo-Citran.

I'm feeling not too bad today.

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
11:00 is still late. What time do you get up?

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
6ish, 6:20 today. That gets me on the 7 am bus, and then I sleep for another hour and a half to two hours.

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You can sleep on a bus? Not me. Gotta be in my own bed or fer-get it!

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I've always been able to sleep in vehicles - cars, buses, planes, boats. In fact, the trick is keeping me awake.

That's why I have so much planned for the drive to Atlanta - so I can stay awake to keep you awake!

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You fall asleep, we'll end up in New Mexico!

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I've always wanted to go to New Mexico....

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
*Making mental note for future road trips*

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a great idea, if this works out. We could even rent an RV and take hubs and kids.

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that would be scary insteresting.

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The last vacation we took, we went to Virginia with whatawookie, her husband and their three-month-old daughter.

It was awesome.

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah-ha! The daughter was too young to talk back.

[identity profile] whatawookie.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
And now I have two, one of whom isn't.

Traditionally, on vacations with family and friends, the adults whine more than the kids.

Dude, you could even "rent" my RV.

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Road Trip!!!

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, as I recall, the adults were the whiny ones on the Virginia trip. :)

It still went pretty well though, D's whining and all. Wait, I didn't mean to point fingers....

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
How old is your daughter? I seem to remember she's about 7. That is definately a mouthy age. I remember getting in so much trouble when I was 7. And 8, and 9 and 10....

[identity profile] married-n-mich.livejournal.com 2006-05-04 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
... and 11, and 12, and 13...

She'll be 8 09/01.

[identity profile] whatawookie.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Sleep on the couch? That's resting, isn't it?

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2006-05-03 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
In my world it is.
