One more step on the road to WriterCon

I booked my flights. I decided that once I got my (small, but enough) tax refund, I'd book my flight and pay off my credit card with the refund. It was a tiny bit more than when I'd originally looked, and it wasn't non-stop, but it's done.

I did have a little drama about it all. I decided to fly out of Buffalo since it's so much cheaper, and we looked around and found a shuttle from Burlington to the Buffalo airport, so I don't even have to drive or park. So after I booked my flight, I went to book the shuttle. There are 4 scheduled trips per day between the two locations, and the last trip home was 3 hours before my flight landed.

D'oh.

So I panicked briefly, then decided I could drive if I had to but first I'd try and shift flights. Turns out that within the first 24 hours you can cancel for only $7 - totally worth it. It means I'm leaving Minneapolis much earlier on Monday, but to save myself the drive, I'm more than willing to get up at ungodly o'clock.

I can't wait to see all y'all!

Bright spot: I don't know if I'm coming or not. Depends on the job situation - or lack thereof - when WC rolls around.

Well, everything that's possible to cross is crossed that you'll be able to make it. I'm a little sad that we won't be able to do the road trip again though. Makes me wish I'd waited to book my flight.

It's probably good that you did. I hate to say 'sorry' at the last minute and then you'd be stuck.

This is true. I actually thought of driving with the TO people, but they are organizers and need to be there early and stay late. Flying, I still get in on Thursday without having to take an extra 2 days off.

The short answer is not yet.

The long answer is that I've got a third interview on Wednesday for a position as "knoweledge management specialist" with Agfa in Waterloo. I'm pretty hopeful about it (by the third interview, I hope they are close to a decision). There's also a job at RIM that I actually want more, but if Agfa comes through with an offer first, I don't know if I'll be able to wait to compare offers.

What does a 'knowledge management specialist' do?

Waterloo's in Canada?

I had my first interview last week. If I passed that one they'll schedule another in a week or so. I haven't heard back yet.

I'm not completely sure of the entire job description, but mostly it's organizing and controlling the documentation and flow of information between internal teams.

Waterloo is in Canada. It's about 30 minutes away from my place in Guelph, and is considered Canada's high-tech hub; 'Silicon Valley North' as it were.

I hope you hear back soon from your interview. You would be such a good addition to any company.

Backatcha!

I hope you hear back soon from your interview. You would be such a good addition to any company.

Especially the one I just left ;-)
