Pictures

Yes, I know I'm behind on writing. I'm behind on work too. Don't care. It'll get done eventually.

Instead, I spent several hours on Sunday sorting through pictures; picking best shots and editing. Today I sent them out for printing and finally posted them to Flickr. Hopefully there will be more to come, since I have some older stuff I'd like to organize as well.

Anyway, for those who care:

Oh wow, Ann! Gorgeous, gorgeous shots. I think the Toronto Zoo should clearly hire you as a wildlife photographer and give you free admission to take more. ;-)

And admission for all my friends too! I got a tripod for Christmas, and I'm excited to try it out on some of the indoor exhibits. Most of those didn't turn out because of the low lighting.

Those are amazing! The tiger, especially — he glows like a Tyger Burning Bright! How did you do that??

Oooh, that's a good name for that photo.

I admit, I did a fair bit of editing in Photoshop before posting. Each one is cropped down to a 4x6 (for printing), and then I did a bunch of other things. Mostly, I used the free actions from Pioneer Woman (www.thepioneerwoman.com) and played to see which ones suited best.

Holy shit!
When are you coming to make my kids look cute? i mean if you can do that with wild animals....

You have no idea how many pictures I deleted or just didn't upload. :)

And I'm happy to come over whenever. I do best at outdoor photography, so it might be best if we let it warm up a bit. Or at least do it on a nice day to play in the snow.

Very pretty. I didn't know you'd gotten into photography.

I've always enjoyed it, but Mom and I took a photography class this spring, and my pictures are definitely improving.

Just have to practice.

Was it with the city? I'd like to do that. Pretty much anything counts as "professional development" as a teacher.

[identity profile] garnigal.livejournal.com 2010-01-27 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, Mom found a professional photographer up home that offers classes. 170$ for 8 weeks, plus a field trip, and he will take you no matter what kind of camera you have. A lot of classes through the city or through Contestoga require you to have a DSLR.

The white wolf is awesome!

Thanks. Toronto Zoo has about 8 or 10 arctic wolves in a brand new habitat. Very photogenic. :)
