Went to see the movie last night, finally. Felt like a bad person for not seeing it sooner. I am a Star Wars fan, I am! Anyway...

It wasn't bad. It tied things up nicely, most of the action was good, it was well shot. It just didn't capture me the way that Star Wars, Empire and Return did. I watched it so I would know the plot, not because I was drawn into the action.

I don't know whether to blame the movie for that or the things I've heard from others or the fact that I know how the Empire is finally destroyed. I do know that I was heartily sick of Padme by the end of the movie. She is so pretty, but everytime she talks, I get this weird feeling that that's not the right voice. I think I'm a little crazy. But it is interesting that hairstyle choices appear to be genetic.

Palpatine was brilliant. I liked the way he could say so much by saying so little.

I liked the sets of the other planets, especially as they jumped from planet to planet killing the Jedi.

D and I both burst out laughing at the overly dramatic, totally derivitive "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" when Palpatine told Vader about Padme's death. That was so cheesy.

The wookies were cool. I found it odd that it was actually Chewbacca that helped Yoda escape. I didn't realize that wookies were supposedly that long lived.

The bit with the babies going to their new families was cheesy and weak. The bit with Vader and Palpatine watching the construction of the Death Star was awesome and rocked.

All in all, I'm glad I saw it and I'll probably try and get them all on DVD just for principle. At the moment, I don't have any of them. I do want to watch Star Wars, Empire and Return again soon, just to compare.
