and Eza keeps reminding me she hasn't seen any pictures. I don't have many - these are just ones I grabbed from Facebook. There will be more once the photographer gets back to us and a couple of friends who are damn good photographers will hopefully get stuff to me too.

But for now...

Yesterday I shopped for 4 hours to get the last few things for the wedding on Friday. Things like an SD card for our digital photo frame, comfortable shoes for when I toss the 4" heels out the window, a guest book, etc.

I still have to print off the seating chart and put it together, and print off some photos and pack everything up for transport.

Other than that, I think we're ready. Yikes.

Grandma passed away at 3:30 this morning. Visitation and funeral are Thursday and Friday, respectively. Mom wants me to say a few words, which I'm having a very hard time putting together. I warned my brother 'it could be short'. At this point it could be 'she was awesome, the end.'

And then the wedding happens a week after that.

No, I'm not stressed out, why do you ask?

Last night was the first of the wedding festivities - an engagement party/pre-wedding party thrown by my parents to celebrate with all of the neighbours and family friends from up home that I'm not inviting to the wedding since we're keeping the wedding smallish, and limited to close family and friends.

It was at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club, one concession over from Mom and Dad's farm. There were 120 people - every seat in the place was full, to the point that Derek and I sat at different tables. Mom and my sister-in-law did a beautiful job decorating, and the food was delicious. Mom asked D to bring DDR and a karaoke game, and he did and hooked it up, but we ended up talking all night.

It was kind of amazing to see everyone all in one place, all because of us. I've been to weddings, but I've never been on the recieving end of all that outpouring of love - what a phenomenal feeling.

We said a few words after dinner, thanking everyone for their hard work, for coming, the club for the food, the usual. Derek also spoke about how blown away he was that everyone was there for us. We got lots of compliments on our speeches, which was nice since it was totally off the cuff. After we spoke, Mom said there was a special dessert, just for Derek. He'd been pouting because we vetoed a chocolate fountain at the wedding because of the cost, the messiness and the double-dip factor. But Mom rented one just for him for last night. He looked like a kid in a candy store - it was a huge hit. Derek even dipped a piece of cheesecake in the fountain.

Basically, we had a wonderful time. :)

I've mentioned this off-line to a few LJ friends, but haven't really announced it as such... D and I are tying the knot this November.

In June, D asked what I thought about getting married 11/11/11 (because it's a cool date), and I said, 'that'd be okay'. Thus, engaged and date set.

It'll be a small wedding in comparison to the huge up-home events we're used to, but we want something different, something that isn't exactly the same as my brother's wedding, my cousins' weddings, etc. So we're going to a little inn up near Collingwood. (www.thefallsinn.com), and getting married beside the pond unless it's raining/snowing.

I'm definitely looking forward to it, and my dress is purty. :)

I've put a few on Flickr - seriously, just a few. Sorry to those friends I made look at ALL of the photos. I owe you one.
