So very sore...
Jun. 11th, 2007 09:28 pmI walk about 7 minutes from my car to the office. I think it took about 15 today. I could barely lift my feet, my legs were so sore.
Yesterday was Book Expo (many thanks to Mote for organizing our tickets) Book Expo Toronto is the industry event at which publishers try to wow booksellers and library buyers with their new lists. To this end, they bring authors in for signings and provide plenty of swag in the form of books and even arcs (advanced reading copies) and of course logo'd items.
We arrived just after 10. This being our second year, we were much more focused. There were some authors we particularly wanted, but we weren't willing to spend hours waiting in line when there were so many others to support. For example, people waited easily for 3 hours for Clive Barker. We got copies, but didn't bother with the signature. When we finally broke down and headed out around 3:15, they were already lining up for James Patterson who was signing at 5.
Our method seemed to work. We didn't get as much stuff this year (last year I weighed it rather than counting - 22 lbs - the pain from carrying it last year was incredible), but this year was more books and it seemed like it was more established authors.
Again, thanks to scarletmote for inviting me to join her and procuring the tickets. I had a wonderful day!
