I have a 6 year old!
Apr. 3rd, 2019 11:24 amAmazingly, I'm not talking about work (though I could! Oh, I certainly could!)
Instead, I'm talking about the shortest human in my household, Miss VV. She has successfully reached 6 years of age, in large part because she has learned to advocate for herself; or at least say "I'm hungry" at regular intervals. Though we should take some credit for listening.
She is very compassionate and caring to her classmates and her pets. She doesn't love dogs, thanks to her cousins' giant animal which really really wants to eat her. I like dogs, but not that one. She's clever, more so than is good for me. It's way too much work when they are smart. She loves to swim and learned to skate this winter. She managed to get out skiing twice and enjoyed that as well. She does Tae Kwon Do begrudgingly. She wants to be good at it, but doesn't want to put in the effort. She gets that from both parents.
To celebrate her maturity, we started reading the first Harry Potter book. I read all of the first chapter, which wasn't terribly engaging for her, and read half of The Vanishing Glass, ending on "Harry should have known it was too good to last." That definitely got her interested. ;) I'm considering stopping at the book store to get the illustrated edition, but so spendy....
We had the family for a birthday party on the 31st and we'll have a friends party (a cooking school at a nearby grocery store) on Apr 6. And then it'll be over, and she'll start dreaming about her 7th birthday.
