I keep looking at the WriterCon 2006 website and thinking... maybe I should go for it. Who do I know that would be up for that? Damn. I really want to go.

You are going? That's awesome. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Yes, I'm definitely going. Registered, got my cocktail party ticket, got my hotel room reserved, and got my money all saved up for it. In 2004 I had to go on scholarship, so this year I'm happy to be able to pay for it all myself. (it helps that I get to drive this year and not have to shell out 250 bucks for a plane ticket!)

At this point, the plan is that if I go, I'll drive with married_n_mich. But I've already got plans to go to Vegas in October, and while money isn't so much the issue, making sure I have enough time off is!

Since we'd be driving from Michigan to Atlanta (well, I'd be driving from Ontario), we'd need two days each way!

Wow, and I thought my 5 1/2 hours was going to be a long drive! At least I can leave early thursday morning and still get there in time to meet some friends at the airport, then go, get cleaned up, and work the registration table!

I really hope you come, WC is an amazing experience. :)

All my friends think that I should go (not that any of them are willing to come with me!) though they worry about me driving with mich - we haven't met in RL yet.

I figure a two day drive; we'll definately know each other by the end of that!

I checked out your journal - I'd wondered how you found me! That entry is funny.

BTW, what fandoms are you into - obviously BtVS, given the icon :) - what else?

Um, lemme see. Stargate: Atlantis is the main one right now, but I also dabble in due South, House, Farscape, CSI, um ... geez. Those are the main ones, I think. I'm mostly a slash writer, but I do write the occasional gen or het story. Mostly slash, though. My favorite characters are Xander, Dawn, Spike, Angel, Wes, House, Chase, Foreman, Rodney, Ronon, Greg, Nick, Helo (BSG), Vecchio, Darla ... gah. So many. Usually when I am really into a show, I find love for all the characters.

What are your fandoms? Do you write? Gen, Het, Slash? What are your favorite pairings?

*is curious now* :)

I started years ago with X-Files fic. I still have a novel-length X-Files story percolating in the back of my head - I started it in 2000, and the first finished part is over 30 pages. I'd keep working on it, but my computer hard drive keeps crashing - I've had to restart Part 2 three times!

Lately, I've been all about the BtVS/Angel. I write het primarily, though I certainly read slash! ;) (mmm, Mulder/Skinner slash - *eyes crossing*) I'm mostly Spuffy (James Marsters is freaking hot), I love writing a good original character, and I've probably written all of the major and minor characters via drabbles at open_on_sunday (including a Buffy/Firefly crossover - I love Joss!)

I read CSI, Veronica Mars, Crossing Jordan, Angel, Buffy, OC, House, Gilmore Girls, even some MASH and QAF. (Can you tell I love fanfiction.net?)

If I go to WriterCon, I want to have my first long (probably novel length) story finished before I go, just to have some solid credits under my belt. It's a hiatus fic between S5 and S6 with Buffy in a coma instead of dead (it'll be Spuffy.) I just can't decide if I want it to be a rewrite of S6 too. (I know - biting off more than I can chew.) The first seven chapters are up at fanfiction.net, but chapter 8 is kicking my ass. :)

So yeah, I write. Man, do I write. I also have 2 original novels in the works, a novella and some short stories.

I'm always excited when other writers are interested in my writing - it's like total validation from the inner circle.

Speaking of 'popping in unannounced' -- my own fic is novel-length, and totally kicking my butt. I also want to finish by WriterCon, but am in a slump. (A rewrite of a whole season is a huge undertaking, let me tell you! If you have any hints on making it easier, please share!)

the only thing that is keeping me going is actually having a fairly detailed outline to work from for the next few chapters. I didn't outline the entire story, in part because I haven't decided where to end it. It seems to be working (if I buckle down and actually write) - the detailed outline keeps me on track on a per chapter basis, and the lack of outline after chapter 10 is keeping me inspired!

Inspiration also helps. Enigmatic Blue (http://www.freewebs.com/enigmaticblue/index.htm) has a story called Avocation that is a Spuffy rewrite from end of S2 through S3 and 4. I really enjoyed reading it, seeing how another writer keeps true to canon while making some drastic changes.
