Bad Day

Eventually, you get to a point where you can get through life pretty easily, right? I mean, yeah, there's always new stuff to learn and new challenges, but the day to day things are second nature. For example, by about age 16, most people can manage to get themselves to work on time.

Not me!

This morning, I slept through my alarm, missing the 7 am bus. Fine, there's an 8 am that will get me in Toronto by 10 - later than usual, but still within our required 10-3 office hours.

So, I drive to my usual spot, and wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, at 8:20, the bus comes. He stops, but starts talking before I can even step up. "The bus is full."

It's early, so I'm not totally parsing this. I take a step up. His hands start waving me away and he tells me much more emphatically "the bus is full, the next one is at 9:50!"

"But I have to get to work!" I wail.

"The next bus is at 9:50, I'm full." Doors shut in my face, bus pulls away.

So instead of my usual virtuous 9 am, I didn't get to work until 11:45. Yay me.

PS - I haven't told anyone that my boss resigned with five days notice, have I? Yeah. Today is his last day, and I'm supposed to be able to take over his job. He's moving back home. To ENGLAND. I'm totally freaking out, and I have been since Monday morning.
