I had such a busy weekend. It was a lot of fun, had a good time, but I didn't get much accomplished.

I hoped to spend time working on my Nano. Apparently, however, I blocked out all the things I'd already decided to do.

I only work to about noon on Friday, but I really don't have enough clothes to go to work every day, so I hit the mall after work. I spent $120 - $40 at Reitman's on a really nice cozy blue sweater, and $80 at Cotton Ginny on pants: 2 pairs of khakis and a pair of blue jeans. It's a large chunk of change, but I needed it and it was a decent deal. Friday night we hung out at home. D worked on the laptop on his essay, and I wrote by hand. The TV was on, so neither of us got much done, but it was relaxing.

Saturday was insanely busy. Well, not really, we made it that way by sleeping in. We met up with Graham for breakfast at Squirrel Tooth Alice's, but we were late getting there and the service was crazy slow. We were supposed to meet D's s-i-l in TO at 1, but we didn't leave Guelph til 1, so we were about an hour late. Finally got to Herb and Jessie's at 2ish, figured out our plans and got D to drop us off at the CNE grounds. D headed off to hang with some friends, and Jess and I made the rounds at the Royal. I'd never been, though I've done rural fairs before and this was just a county fair on a grand scale. The biggest difference between the Fall Fairs I've been to and the Royal - the booze. It really seemed like all we did was taste wine. No complaints here, obviously. We wandered over to the canine section and petted the dogs that the local rescue groups brought in. We strolled through the cattle barn and the horse barn. We spent most of our time in the petting zoo though, petting pigs and goats and ponies and sheep. It was a good time, I'd definitely go again. Then we TTC'ed back up to the house, took the dog for a walk, waited for D., and got organized for supper. There were 5 of us for dinner - we met up with other friends, Richard and Joanna. (For people who live in Guelph and have for 7 years, we sure know a lot of Torontonians.) We ended up at Boho on Roncesvales (I have no idea how that is actually spelt) for dinner - it was delicious, and Richard treated us for D's b-day. We split up after dinner - Jess went to meet up with Olivia and Lori, and we went to Iduro (again, no idea how it's spelt), the wine bar Richard and Joanna opened with some partners. It was amazing and busy - congrats to them! At 11:30 we headed over to Joey's (the Accordion Guy) for his birthday/engagement party. It was ridiculously packed. I saw Joey, from a distance, managed to speak to his fiancee for half a mo', but the crowd wasn't really conducive to chatting. We found Jess, Olivia, Lori and Lori's friend (I have no idea what her name is) in the basement, and ended up in the one room that was empty - Joey's roommate's room. We were a little anti-social; social enough with each other, but everyone else was just to hard to talk to with the noise and action. We only stayed about 40 minutes. After all the walking Jess and I did at the Royal and D did with his friends, it was time to go. We got Jess back to the house around 1:30 and headed for home. Got home at 2:40 and went to bed.

Sunday was a Nano day - no writing but a get together in KW. Stuff like that is why I like Nano - I can live without the stress of trying to make my word counts but meeting new people, talking about stuff we have in common!!!! is just so fun. Unfortunately, we only stayed about 30 minutes - I promised D dim sum (although, he paid, when I think about it) for fixing my parents' computer. Next time I'll be there for the long haul. Hit Cameron Seafood for lunch - I love their dim sum. D. says King Tin is better, and he's probably right if we're just talking selection, but I like that everything at Cameron comes fresh from the kitchen rather than being pushed around the restaurant for x number of hours. As always, it was delicious. Finally at about 3 o'clock we headed to my parents, with a stop at 2 computer stores on the way. *sigh* Got home just before 5 and D dove right in to transferring files from the old computer to the new one. While we waited, we ate. It doesn't get much more British than supper last night - roast beef, scalloped potatoes, and roast carrots, with butterscotch pie for dessert. It was great, though I thought I'd go into a diabetic coma the pie was so sweet. Mom and Dad were disappointed T. and Rya couldn't make it - they love kids. Okay, I should word that properly; they were disappointed Rya couldn't make it. Too much competition when the parents come along with the kids. Anyway, D got the files moved, Mom and I played Trivial Pursuit (she won), and we left around 9:30. Got home took out the garbage (I really wish I took out the pumpkin last week), and went to bed. Sadly, I then read until 2 instead of sleeping, but I'll live.

See, I told you I did a lot, with nothing to show for it - not one word written for my Nano. I suck.
