I've been getting lots of interviews and good feedback on my resume and applications and have been feeling pretty positive about the whole experience - until today.

There was a job that I was really gunning for, that I'd gone through the interview process for, that I'd gotten great feedback for, that I had friends in high places for... and I didn't get it.

I've still got lots of applications out there but it was a bit of a disappointment. Fortunately, we are doing okay and can weather me being out of work for a bit longer. But I'm starting to get really antsy!

I may have to actually clean my house to keep myself entertained, and that would be a tragedy.

Mph, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the job you wanted. The interview process can be discouraging-- oh, and how I know it. All I can say is, try to stay positive!

My work search tends to always go like this - lots of positive feedback, down to the final two, but I don't quite make that cut. At least in this situation I have the excuse that I was up against an internal candidate - not a lot I could do to beat that.

Ach! You're so deserving and easy to get along with. I think you'd be a good fit anywhere.

It is discouraging at times isn't it?

I had an email for a job. Sent back a question. Never heard from them again.

I had an call with a follow up email. Sounded GREAT - the one in Des Moines. Almost like the job was made for me. Emailed back and forth a few times. Chatting on the phone. Then NADA.

Another one sounds like yours. Someone I used to work with actually works for this company. And she was supposed to email me and/or call me back... a week ago. Nada.

Takes everything NOT to get crazy-anxious.

But like you, we'll be okay for a few, so I try NOT to panic too badly.

I have found they always hire someone from inside the firm. I am hoping you find your dream job and can put this all behind you, like a bad dream.

If you want something to clean, how about coming over to my house? I have guests arriving from overseas next week, and with me out of commission (my leg) the gardens are a jungle, I have cobwebs in my bath and all over the house, and windows that need cleaning. Let's not mention the floors.

How about it? :0)

Good luck, sweetie.

Thanks, eza. I do try to play up my lovely personality in interviews. *snerk*

It came down to me and an internal candidate, so I can understand that they'd have to think of the politics. I was very pleased to get that far, all things considered.

I've got another interview on Friday (at Reasearch in Motion, maker of the BlackBerry - so they give good toys), so I'm looking forward to that.

I hate how slow the process can be at times. One of the best things about the job I didn't get was that they wanted someone to start about 3 weeks after the first interview. The rest of the jobs I'm applying for are a little slower, but they are also bigger companies - more room to grow and learn, excellent benefits etc.

My EI has come through now, so that's a bit of a relief. We weren't struggling before, but it's nice to know there's some space to fix my car, fix Derek's car, and do some things around the house (since I have the time and all).

I think I'm just getting bored. The days were long and dull when I was working but... oh my god, daytime tv is just horrible!

You're just rubbing it in, aren't you? I'm dying to get out in the yard, but we're still buried under a foot of snow. It'll be May before it's warm enough and dry enough to get anything accomplished. It'll be our first full year with the new yard, and we have grand plans. Starting with having the pool ready for May 24.

If I could hop in my car and come help, you know I would. Unfortunately, the damn ocean keeps getting in the way!

There is nothing on TV during the day. I find other things to do. Which is hard when you're trying not to spend money. I wake up. I got to bed. And there's stuff in between points one and two that get me through the day.

Thank god for the internet.

I spend the morning job hunting usually, but MASH is on at noon on History channel. Then I tend to get sucked into either more History channel or Discovery, then at 2 it's over to A&E for Crossing Jordan. At least I like reruns.

After that, I start thinking about supper, but Derek has tae kwan do 4 nights a week, so it's mostly just me. Wednesday afternoon is stitch and bitch at the rec centre and Thursday night is stitch and bitch at my friend's store.

Other than that, I read a lot. I should take advantage of the time for writing, but I can't seem to get inspired right now.

I spent more time on the Internet when I was working. Now I just can't sit in front of the computer for hours on end without feeling guilty. I don't look for a job everyday. Maybe once or twice week seriously, and then I scan quickly.

Yep, totally into the reading and lacking inspiration in the writing department. We could finish a novel!

It'll work out for us both. I just know it.

Oh. I forgot that you would be snowed under. Sorry. I wonder what that is like, to have a foot of snow? We're having heat waves - no doubt you've heard - and with a lovely lot of rain (and flooding) the gardens and yard are looking like the rainforest we live in. The pool has gone green with all the fresh water from the rain, and we are trying to get it right again before next week.

Don't let a mere ocean get in your way. ;~)))

That's quite all right. I do love winter, but I haven't managed to do much wintery this year, just X-Country skiing once up home, so it's starting to drag on me. Besides, I have this lovely jungle of my own that I need to tame!
