I listened to the Les Mis soundtrack in the car today. I'd fogotten how much I loved it. But it occured to me that I've seen this story before - in Serenity.

And now I need to think about Mal as Val Jean and The Operative as Javert and how to work that into a fic...

That would actually work. I don't think there's a Fantine or an Eponine, but Kaylee's innocence and Simon's naivety match their suspected characters.

I was thinking of a post-movie recovery fic with River dialogue subtly informing the characters of who they are modelled after. The trick being subtle. I like big sticks in my fic.
