Drabble Meme from April...

Anyone remember the drabble meme that went around in April? I got 5 requests and wrote and posted 3 of them. I finally finished the last two. I'm reposting everything together, since I thought it was interesting how I never use dialogue and I only use character names when they aren't in the scene (and sometimes not even then).

Buffy/Mal for blue_icy_rose

She’d seen the world end. She’d seen worlds begin. She’d lived too long, but she wasn’t ready to stop. She was waiting for something… indefinable.

He’d seen friends fall. He’d seen babies begin. He wasn’t old, but he felt he’d lived centuries. He was hoping for something… inexpressible.

They found each other in a crowded street. She thought she’d found an enemy half-forgotten. He hoped he’d found a distraction from jealousy. But passion flared, excitement grew and they whispered and writhed in a darkened room.

Now his hand found her unerringly. Now her eyes sought his instinctively. Now they… loved.

Mal/River (ficlet) for spiralleds

He damn near sat on the capture.

River’d been in his quarters again.

He’d yell at her tomorrow, not that it would make any difference. She’d learned bad habits from Kaylee.

He turned the capture on without thinking about it. The pics were nice. Trees, flowers, Kaylee and Simon walking into the sunset.

Then the vid started.

She’d set it up somewheres. Left it running and danced. He remembered that. He’d come off the bridge and spotted her twirling away in the hold. Barefoot and barely dressed, he’d usually yell, but this time he just watched.

He’d watched and then… There he was walking into the frame.

She knew he was there. She’d spun, and then somehow thrown herself across open space towards him.

He caught her and she slid down his chest, eyes fixed on his.

He watched it again. She jumped, he caught her and their eyes met. Held.

There was knowing in her eyes. Anticipation. She’d claimed him in that moment.

And he’d agreed.

His smile in the capture wasn’t for a playful young girl, but a woman grown.

He set the capture on his desk. He’d have to make sure to thank her. Tomorrow.

He smiled.

LoVe for cindergal

He’d stayed at a distance. She was sweet, and wouldn’t want someone as tarnished as him.

She’d stayed at a distance. He was experienced, and wouldn’t want someone as unsophisticated as her.

He’d been drawn to her. She was honest, and even Duncan and Lily kept secrets from him.

She’d been drawn to him. He was secretive, and Lily and Duncan were open books to her.

He pulled her close. She was experienced and secretive and he could taste that on her skin.

She pulled him close. He was sweet and honest and she could feel that in his gaze.

She’s not anything special.

Doesn’t hold a candle to his lush and lovely Drusilla or even to Darla’s haughty and frightening beauty. Sweet though. Kind and gentle, if quiet.

He wonders if she’s as quiet when she’s abed with Red?

Sly smile.

Not at her best, afraid and cowering. He can see she’s had a lifetime of getting beaten down by bigger, meaner folk.

He knows that story.

Smile turns sour.

Prettier when she smiles. Prettier when she hopes. Prettier when there’s someone willing to fight for her.

He knows nothing about that.

Never had anyone to fight for him.

He’s not a Watcher. Oh, he remembers the rules they drilled into him. He remembers how those rules failed him when it mattered most.

1 – Girls, especially Slayers, are not to be trusted.

He trusts his life and the lives of everyone he loves to her bloodstained hands.

Her beauty catches his eye but her courage ensnares his heart.

3 – Warriors fall in the heat of battle. Generals live to fight the war.
