Poor pitiful me

When I picked VV up on Thursday, she was sitting outside with the babysitter. So all three of us got to gaze in astonishment and horror at the smoke pouring out of my car.

When I took it in on Friday, they discovered it was oil pouring onto the hot exhaust from the cam shaft. So kind of a fire hazard, apparently. About a 5-6 hour and $800 job, which is bad enough but... oh the but. It's the time of year where everyone in Ontario wants their summer tires on. So they are booked solid for 2 weeks with tire changes. No idea when they'll get around to me. I have a loaner - which I have to return every morning in case someone else needs it, and I might get a different one every night, who knows! And of course, they have to move the car seat for me for every car change.

Also, I think we're getting another cat. I had hoped Derek was off the idea of a friend for Lyra, but we stopped at a pet store and they had a lovely tortie (named Tortellini) they were fostering for the humane society, who put up with toddler pets and with other cats... she's lovely. She'll need a new name though.

And tonight is guild and I have to help serve, but I also have to take VV with me. So that'll be fun.

So sorry about the car! I still remember when my car caught fire... and all the bystanders became annoyed with me because I was upset. Apparently my tears ruined their buzz or something and anyway it's totally irrational for anyone to be upset just because their car is ON FIRE. But back to you, I really wish you didn't have to wait so long and go through all that inconvenience because it sucks dead bears!

Thanks. I think I should get it back today, so sooner than I thought. My husband told me they were overstating the case when they said it was undrivable because of the fire hazard, so I shall point him in this direction and say "look! it happened to a friend of mine!"

Yeah, for sure. Luckily VV's babysitter has a total gearhead family and spends a great deal of time at dirt bike tracks, so she was able to point it out to me asap.

Ugh, car trouble. That's no fun - at least no harm was done though. I'm really sorry it'll take a while to get fixed, that sucks - I guess at least there is a loaner car!

I'll be sure to post pictures of the catten. I really do need to think of a better name for her though. All the rest of our cats had music names. I'm trying to think of an Italian composer who starts with T.

Our other cats were Trance (because Japanese Trance made her fall asleep), Trippy (short for Trip-Hop), AJ (short for Acid Jazz) and Lyra (actually named by a former friend after the character in His Dark Materials, but I prefer to think she's named after the lyre)

I'm still trying to convince my mom to let me bring a cat home... in spite of allergic asthma, LOL. :P Totally worth it though IMO!
