So.
Nano.
November is only 35 days away, and I thought I was sitting pretty. Since, oh July, I've been saying, "I'll write the sequel to last year's Nano. Yeah, that one I didn't finish. So long as I outline the first book first, it won't be a problem - I'll know where to carry on from."
Am I on crack?
Have I completely forgotten how tangential my writing can get? I don't stick to outlines! This is not an essay!
Yeah.
That is not going to work.
I need to let Lia grow up before I can write the second book. Man, sometimes I'm dumb.
So.
Now what?
I have some plot bunnies for fan fic. I could work on The Guardian (1 chapter pre-written that I couldn't count, but I do have an idea where the story is going). I could work on Death is Your Gift (8 chapters written, know where the story is going, don't know if there's 50K left of story). I could start something new - What if Drusilla got killed during The Bargaining Part 2? (Buffy still runs away, but this time Spike goes with her - fun and hot).
Or I could think really hard (accepting advice and suggestions from my friends, of course) and try and do something original. I've discovered that I'm a lot more anal when I write original than when I write fan-fic, which means it'll take longer. Lots longer.
So.
What do ya'll think?

Date: 2005-09-27 02:06 pm (UTC)Actually, I've been kicking around a possible plot thingy for the NaNo since February. Part of me just wants to start it, and the other is scared of it. Precisely since there is no outline at all.
Me, I'm all for the original stuff. New worlds created whole cloth out of nothing. But that's just me. I say, write whatever you want to write most. That way you'll do it. Hopefully.

Date: 2005-09-27 03:54 pm (UTC)I've found it easier to write after NaNo - I still have barely written anything since, but I _have_ written, which is a vast improvement over, oh, the last 10 years or so. Its a good exercise - just get the words out, and don't worry about anything else.
Sign ups start October 1st...
