Especially for saratinia. Have you run into these sorts of worries, or is this a strictly American fear?

We have to order through board tendered companies, which are huge international thingys.

It is still kinda fun to order some of the stuff though. We have all of those chemicals they mentioned in the article and a whole bunch more. I We could make up some nasty stuff, but really who has time for that. We do have to keep them locked away.

Interesting. I know that D and his friends played with chemicals, and it wouldn't bother me to have a kid that liked blowing things up (lessons about science, lessons about concientious experimenting and ethics, all rolled into one explosion).

How easy do you think it would be for you to get some of the chemicals and glassware if you didn't go through the school board? Would you run into the same issues that are mentioned in the article, or are things more relaxed here.

Hopefully that means it isn't so difficult or people would be talking about it.

Thanks for the info!

I do think the paranoia is strictly American.

I was glad to be able to buy some decongestant on my recent trip to Canada without feeling like I was being assessed for the likelihood of being a meth cooker.

That would be a pain! Canada has it's own paranoias, though. I sometimes think we fear conflict to the point that joining the armed forces is seen as a redneck thing to do. I'm sure there are other Canadian blind spots, but I can't think of anything right now!
