1. What is there that's fun to do in Guelph?
Hang out at my place! Actually, Guelph is a close-knit and attractive town. There are plenty of activities to choose from - bars and clubs of all description, live music, interesting architecture and groups that gather to talk about pretty much every activity under the sun. One of the most interesting things I've done in Guelph is the graveyard tour. Every September, there's a tour/show in Woodlawn Cemetary. It hits various high and low points of Guelph's history via theatre (different ones every year). Using local actors, a program is put together which gives a taste of the lives of some of our past residents, some famous and some just tragic.
There are also plenty of hiking/biking trails along either of the two rivers that meet in town, and we're within a short drive of some of the best hiking and canoeing in Ontario - the Bruce Trail and the Grand River Watershed.
2. What has been the oddest or least mainstream hobby you've ever had?
I've heard writers tend to be strange... I'm really pretty normal. I like to read and watch TV, garden, go to movies, cross-stitch, hike, canoe - the usual. I wouldn't call it a hobby (no matter how frequently I had to participate), but the oddest thing I've done on a regular basis is helping castrate and inoculate pigs and cattle on my parents farm.
3. What was your favorite part about Writercon? And why didn't we meet there?
I really enjoyed meeting the folks inside the computer. The women I roomed with definitely got my sense of humour. That's a very rare quality. I also met some of the locals from TO, and now I see them on a regular basis. I thought the most fun would be the Spuffy meetup, but it ended up being just hanging with the roommates and chatting. Oh, and the 11 hours in the car with married_in_mich rocked too.
And I'm sure you were way too cool to notice me. Normal, remember? And by normal, I mean, shy, retiring and rather non-descript.
4. Choose: Buffy or Firefly?
Evil. Firefly, I think. I think it was a more mature show in terms of its writing and directing and, had it stayed on the air, would have really blown us away. Plus, there's the pain factor. Only 14 episodes? Makes my heart hurt.
5. What are the names of your cats?
Dumb, Dumber and Asshole. Actually, Trance, Trippy (short for trip-hop) and AJ (short for acid jazz). We had a bit of a theme.

3. Writing. Video games. I'd probably take some more college courses, just in things that interest me. And traveling.
4. Funny, sarcastic, kind, calm and overweight. My friends might change funny to something like... i dunno... horny. But only because they're more honest.
5. Well, the first friend has to be named Beelzebub, because I think it would be awesome if I went around talking to a person who wasn't there and calling them Beelzebub. I think my second imaginary friend's name is going to be The Legendary Rear Admiral Ari Lowenstein. And third will be Jim.
