I'm not good with metaphor. Isn't that supposed to be what real writers do; play with words, painting metaphorical pictures? I enjoy metaphor and appreciate a finely turned phrase, but am not so great at creating my own.

Take for instance, this line from my Nano: "...flies pierced by the sharp point of his contempt and sarcasm."

Don't worry about it! I have whole passages that don't make sense. If you *really* hate it, just highlight or underline it or mark it with red pen or something. Plow on and fix it later. That's what December is for (or so I keep telling myself). :)
